The Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log allows you to retrieve preliminary injury or fatality crash information for accidents that occurred within the past 14 days. Crashes may remain on the site for up to 30 days if information updates are necessary. You can search by date, county, and type of crash. Note that log entries are subject to change due to ongoing updates. For accidents that happened more than 14 days ago, you’ll need to request an official accident report.
You can request accident reports online for incidents that occurred since May 2013. A $5.00 fee applies for each report and a $2.00 fee for each witness statement. Payment is required when you submit your request. To request a report, you will need the name of someone involved, the case number, or the date of the accident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is authorized to provide this information under the Kansas Open Records Act. However, in fatal accidents, victim names are withheld until families are notified. To obtain official crash reports for older accidents or if you lack internet access, you can submit a written request with payment to the Kansas Highway Patrol General Headquarters Records section.
