Ukraine TPS Extended: 18 More Months of Protection

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ukrainians for 18 months due to the ongoing conflict. This allows eligible Ukrainians who arrived in the US on or before August 16, 2023, to remain and work legally. Russia’s invasion has created a humanitarian crisis, preventing a safe return home. This extension allows approximately 103,700 Ukrainians to re-register for TPS, provided they meet the requirements and have resided continuously in the US since August 16, 2023. All applicants undergo thorough vetting. Those with felony or two misdemeanor convictions are ineligible. Previous EADs are automatically extended for 12 months. Pending TPS applications will be processed, and approved applicants will receive TPS and EADs valid through October 19, 2026. A Federal Register notice will provide further details on re-registration and EAD renewal.
